Easy & Cheap Rose Cake (but it looks expensive!)

These roses made out of icing look complicated and expensive, but they are actually very easy to make!  We promise that they are not difficult  – they are tried and true.  The great part about these icing roses is that they look expensive and complicated.  A baker friend or family member could help put this together (either as a single cake, or multiple could be made), freeze the cakes a few days ahead of time, and then pull it out to thaw before dinner.  A really budget savvy way to capitalize on these easy rose icings would be to make cupcakes for the guests (click here for that page) and to make this cake for the bride and groom.  Enjoy!
